Sweetheart Soiree 2006
[ see report and info from 2007 ]

The Children's Advocacy Center of Paris held the fifth annual Sweetheart Soiree on February 11, 2006 at The Love Civic Center.

Honorary chairman for the 2006 event was Mike Dunn, Vice President of Campbell Soup, Paris Operations.

The Soiree featured the music of Dr. Larry "T-Byrd Gordon" and his 16 piece band, The Music People Luv Band, for the second year. T-Byrd kept the crowd of almost 300 on the dance floor with his electrifying artistry as a singer and performer. Dr. Gordon's repertoire consists of Big Band, Pop, Country, Rock, R&B, Jazz, Gospel and Rap/Hip-Hop.

The Soiree also featured a silent and live auction. 2006 Soiree also included a 2 carat round & baguette diamond ring valued at $4,500 given away in a drawing. In the weeks preceding the Soiree, as well as during the event, a donation of $20 got your name in a drawing that was held on the night of the event. The ring, from Doug Jackson and David C. House with Jewel Mart, was won by Lamar County Sheriff's Dectective Travis Rhodes who was not present at the Soiree, but upon receiving the ring, allowed his son to present the stunning ring to his wife.

The Soiree is the major yearly fundraiser for The Children's Advocacy Center,
and raised over $9,000 this year. All proceeds go to The Children's Advocacy Center to help make a difference in the lives of abused children. Underwriters for 2006 were again Campbell Soup and Dale and Nelda Trahan with McDonalds.

Special thanks to all our sponsors, the businesses that donated to the auctions, to The Board of Director's and all the committee's who worked for many months to make this event such a spectacular success.

Kudos to Sheila Coursey and Mary Mead with Campbell Soup, their help with the decorations and auction items was fantastic. The CAC is especially grateful to fundraising chairmen, Kenneth Webb and Jere Boswell, for their tremendous efforts to make 2006's Soiree a success. Thanks also to Chapman's Florist, Jewel Mart, Coca-Cola and Capizzis' for all their help.
